Questioning Non Thinkers - April 2010

Balance vs. Prestige

April 20th 2010 22:43
In wake of finishing the book Overachievers (2006) by Alexandra Robbins, I was wondering...
what are your opinions on the thing that will make people lead more fulfilling, fruitful, pleasing lives?
is it
a) doing anything it takes, within moral reason, to get to the top--and then take full advantage of the opportunities given to you at the highest level to get even more opportunities, eventually obtaining a fairly large amount of power to do as you please with
b) live a very balanced life, working hard but also knowing when to relax and play, getting some opportunities by luck or chance, and others because of your passions, and eventually helping people and learning more about the world to gain friends and a caring environment to help you in your life.

is the second always the most beneficial?

when should we consider making a lot of sacrifices to achieve something great, rather than rolling with the punches and depending on fate?

would you choose a balanced life where you may regret not working harder or a prestigious but emotionally and physically greuling lifestyle where you achieve almost anything you have ever dreamed of?
